• If you did not pay the $6.00 for the box lunch, you are required to provide your own sack lunch.  You will not be able to leave Westbury Baptist for lunch.
• If you have not received your practice CD or required music for the Honor Choir or Treble Choir, see Mr. Carson asap.
• Make time this week to review/learn all Region Weekend Music.

5.  CHOIR T-SHIRTS ARE IN.  Please come by the choir room during lunch to pick up       your shirt. 

6.  TEXAS RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL-Wednesday, October 28, 2008-Students are        required to wear their choir t-shirts, blue jeans, and comfortable shoes.  Please        make arrangements to be at WHS at 7:30 am.  Sign-up for a bus before you leave           school today.  The sign-up sheet can be found in the entrance way to the choir   room.

7.  DISTRICT/REGION CHOIR AUDTION RESULTS-

District and Regional Choir auditions took place Saturday at Mayde Creek High School, where Westside High School students demonstrated the strength of the growing choir program by taking away the best results we’ve seen in years.

Sarah Steen, Allie Booth, Carmen Lindmoen, Tiffany Trinh, Nika Hakim, Ta’coya Le, Taylor Harrison, Katie Massey, Gabby Vigil, Lauren Isenhour, Gracie Reyes, Raymond Luera, and Will Watson all did well enough in district rounds to proceed to region auditions.

At regional auditions, Westside had five students make the all-region treble choir and six students make the all-region mixed choir. The students who made the treble choir were: Ta’coya Le, Taylor Harrison, Lauren Isenhour, Gabby Vigil, and Katie Massey. Alejandro Bonfil, Nika Hakim, and Carmen Lindmoen made the all-region mixed choir, while Gracie Reyes, Will Watson, and Hector Naranjo made the all-region mixed choir and will be advancing to the next round of auditions on the path to the Texas All-State Choir. Congratulations to all who participated!

8.  CHAPERONE THANK YOU-

Hi Mr. Carson,

I just wanted to send you this e-mail to thank you for asking me to chaperon on Saturday and for all your work with Gabby.  She is truly thrilled with her accomplishment so I thank you for “pushing” her to do this.  It was all worth it.

I just want you, if possible, to share with the students my thoughts on the day.

I just want to tell those students how wonderful I thought they were.  They were great to spend the day with and conducted themselves in a manner that, in my opinion, would make Westside proud.  I can only describe them as, fun-loving, caring, and oh so talented…these are the things that I witnessed from those there that day.  The level of support for one another too was enjoyable to witness.  I would be remiss as a youth minister if I didn’t say to these students that through them I witnessed God’s love.  All of them possess amazing talent and please let those that didn’t make it know that God only asks them to give their best, and that is what I saw in them, their best.

Thank you again, for your dedication to your work and for the gift that you have in passing your knowledge and love of music to the students.

I look forward to being with them again and wish all those that advanced much success in the next round.

PS  tell the students that I will send “comfort food” the one in the “box” as soon as possible

1. ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS AND ORDERS ARE DUE SEPTEMBER 26.

1. All Choir Council Officers need to schedule a meeting with Mr. Carson to discuss    individual responsibilities.

1. Students should have a pencil and a ½ inch 3-ringed black binder every day in school.

1. Students auditioning for the Texas All-State Choir should bring their music every day to school.  DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO LEARN THE MUSIC. Plan accordingly!  Mr. Carson will not rehearse with any student that does have their All-State music with them. INCLUDING PENCILS!!

1. Starting September 23, students can sign up for individual sessions with Mr. Carson on the All-State Music.

1. PARENTS-Have you joined the Westside Music Boosters organization?

      Your students need your support.  Please join today.

1. Choir Department Handbooks will be passed out during class on Wednesday and

      Thursday.

1. All documents from the Choir Department Handbook are due Monday,          September 29 for a test grade.  Ten points will be deducted from the test grade          for each school day there after.

1. Twenty Nine students are registered to participate in the District/Region Auditions on Saturday, October 18^th at Mayde Creek HS.  The registration fee of $20.00 is due this Friday, September 26.

1. Lettermen Jackets have arrived.  See Mr. Carson during lunch.

1. Choir Fees are due October 1, 2008 unless you make arrangements with Mr. Carson for a payment plan.  We will discuss in detail on Wednesday/Thursday.
